UGM Law Faculty that has reached the age of 72 on February 17, 2018 is the first law faculty established by the Republic of Indonesia who has sovereignty. In his journey to realize the spirit from good to great faculty of law, Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM) has make important contributions in the development of the nation and state, and in particular in the development of legal science in Indonesia. Many opinions and thoughts born, grew, and then spread from the later UGM Faculty of Law used to strengthen and improve the Indonesian legal system, in harmony with aspiring Faculty of Law UGM to create the Bulaksumur School of Legal Thoughts. Various achievements have been achieved by the UGM Faculty of Law both on a national scale and internationally.
1.DEMA Justicia
Dewan Mahasiswa Justicia is a Student Body of the Faculty of Law Universitas Gadjah Mada that functions as an executive and legislative body of Faculty of Law Universitas Gadjah Mada’s students. This institution was declared in August 2001, is actually a new face of two student organizations, namely the Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa (BEM) and the Senat Mahasiswa (SM) which was officially disbanded in the period of 1999-2000.
The vision of this institution is to realize unity and brotherhood between fellow students of the Faculty of Law UGM and the community at large; explore, appreciate, develop and practice knowledge in order to increase social sensitivity and critical power of students towards any changes that exist and how to react; maturity and learning for the management of the institution in particular and students of the Faculty of Law UGM in general. To achieve this vision, the missions needed are: to become a forum for aspiration, communication, and coordination between students of the Faculty of Law UGM and with students throughout Indonesia in particular and society in general; a place to fight for the interests of students in particular and society in general, and a place for the development of students in the science of law.
Based on the desire to provide the best environment for achieving the best academic achievement, Gadjah Mada Residence University (UGMR) which manages all student dormitory units owned by Gadjah Mada University (UGM) provides accommodation for first-year students enrolled at UGM as well as lecturers from other universities because of their scientific, arts and cultural exchanges, or trainees, faculty guests, study programs, institutions, and study centers directly or indirectly related to the University. Most of UGM students come from various regions of Indonesia with their respective local cultures and languages. we understand how important it is for them to find accommodation that suits their new needs, close to campus, secure security, easy access to information, in an academic environment, good service and decent furniture. For this reasons, UGMR offers five dormitory units that can accommodate more than 1,500 people, namely: Darmaputera Baciro, Darmaputera Karanggayam, Ratnaningsih Bulaksumur, Ratnaningsih Kinanti, and Ratnaningsih Sagan. Through the hostel units above, UGMR has a mission to develop the independency, creativity and competency of first-year students in science imbued with national values based on Pancasila, which is in line with UGM’s mission to become a world- class university through improving the quality of student’s soft skills new in the fields of education, research and community service as well as the preservation and development of superior and beneficial knowledge for the community.
